LED Display Market to Top $10B in 2026 as TCON Standard Debuts

2026-09-05 · Industry News

Displays and lighting are two markets, but the technology is shared, and what happens on the display side is worth watching. China's first LED TCON (timing controller) standard was released in March, with supporting chips already generating revenue.

The market numbers are equally strong: the global LED display market is expected to pass US$10 billion in 2026. MIIT has listed new displays (including LED) as one of six emerging pillar industries to cultivate during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

For the lighting industry, the significance is that core LED device technology — chips, drivers, control — keeps iterating, lowering costs and raising reliability, and those gains eventually flow into lighting products. Being part of a national pillar industry plan also means R&D and supply-chain resources will keep concentrating in this direction.
